GOLD PLATING CARE
If a jewellery brand claims that gold-plating will last forever, I’m sorry to break it to you, but they’re lying. Although the plating uses real gold to electrochemically transfer onto other metals, it still remains a thin layer of gold. Gold-plating offers an affordable alternative to solid gold pieces but needs some extra love, care and attention. If your piece loses its gold finish, it’s proof that you are loving to wear it. We can discuss options to re-plate your piece.
For your gold-plated pieces to last longer you should avoid contact with water, perfumes, lotions, oils, alcohol, makeup, fake tan, hairspray, chlorine or any harsh chemicals.
You can gently clean your gold-plated jewellery with dish soap and a soft-bristled toothbrush in lukewarm water. Dry thoroughly with a gentle towel.
